Coping with the Stress and Anxieties of Waiting for the Nursing Board Exam Results

Your four years of nursing school, months of board exam reviews, and hours of taking the most important test of your career may be over but waiting for the results of the licensure examination take a toll on your mental and emotional well-being. The longer the wait, the greater your stress and anxiety will become.

Given the huge number of examinees taking the nursing board exam year after year, it is not surprising that many soon-to-be nurses may suffer the agony of waiting. Here are important tips to cope up with the stress of waiting for the results of the licensure examination:

1. It’s beyond your control

You have to accept the fact that it’s out of your control now that the nursing board exam is over. If you think that you may have made some mistakes in the test then you don’t have to think about it too much because you will only know once you get the result. Hope for the best and accept what the result is.

2. Don’t get paranoid

Many people tend to compare their answers with other people who also took the nursing board exam. Though you can get a good idea of how did in the examination by evaluating your performance, it may only cause you more stress and doubt yourself even more.

3. Sweat it out

Engage in sports to release your adrenaline and forget all the bad vibes that you are thinking of. It is important to find a strenuous activity to calm your nerves.

4. Reconnect with your family and friends

Because of the long hours and extended days you spent in review classes, reading your books, and answering practice tests leading up to the nursing board exam, it is high time to reconnect with all your loved ones.

5. Doing what you love the most

You may have put your life on hold for the licensure examination review. It’s now time to reward yourself by doing the things that you love the most. It may be clubbing with friends, shopping at your favorite boutique, or traveling to places you never been before. Whatever the results of the examination, take your mind off of it for a change.

6. Pray

If you are a spiritual and religious person then take your time to pray because it is always comforting to seek guidance from above.
